The Stellar initiative defines a granting scheme for sponsored research projects and scientific exchange activities in the area of neurodegenerative diseases and adjacencies.
The aim of the initiative is to encourage collaborative research between the academic partners with their centers of excellence in neuroscience covering all aspects of translational research (basic-, biomarker and clinical research) in the area of neurodegenerative diseases and the R&D groups of Janssen with its developmental capabilities and their research groups in neuroscience.
As such, these collaborations could generate breakthrough treatment and prevention options for these diseases and have a major impact on societal needs.
The synergy between academia and Janssen is believed to cover the different capabilities needed to address several of the productivity roadblocks actually present in pharma R&D.
This first call will focus on the LIND community (Leuven research Institute for Neuroscience & Disease — KU Leuven, UZ Leuven and VIB); future calls will be broader in scope and include academic and research institutes from Benelux.
